One of Central Alberta's foremost craft breweries, the Blindman team have made a name for themselves with their delicious brews, from their classic Farmhouse Ale to their award-winning Kettle Sour. Located in an out-of-the-way industrial park in east Lacombe, they needed a comfortable and inviting space to draw in a local clientele typically wary of unusual brews, as well as the growler-touting travellers on tour from Edmonton or Calgary.
The client presented a tight budget, and tasked our team with coming up with a design that they could construct themselves. The design response included an exposed plywood and concrete palette with simple light fixtures that allowed for the beer on tap to be front and centre. The wood offers a warm and friendly contrast to the industrial space, while also allowing for the construction flexibility of fabricating on- site.
The taproom is a favourite local hangout and has boosted Blindman Brewing’s following and community presence - with a significant planned expansion in the near future.
