Good Neighbour Coffee

Lacombe, AB

Construction complete 2017

Good Neighbour Coffee House began as the dream to connect communities together. As a coffee roaster, the founder has been building connections in agricultural communities in Central America and around the world to bring delicious coffee to his own agricultural community in Alberta, with a focus on coffee that is fairly and directly traded with growers.

A desire for deeper connection between these communities sparked the idea to build a local coffee shop that could bring people from Lacombe together around fresh, locally-roasted coffee, while also providing a venue for community programs.

The design utilizes a paired-down material palette of raw exposed concrete, clear finished plywood panels, and solid surface counters. Opposite the bar, simple white text and graphics tell the stories of connection made between communities in Honduras and the community in central Alberta - global neighbours.

Proceeds from the coffee shop supports the local initiatives of this Alberta community, as well as the coffee-growing communities in Central America.
