This renovation to the North Vancouver City Hall Council Chamber provides universal access to the lowest level of the Chamber, while making necessary upgrades and modifications to the audio visual, lighting, and mechanical systems, as well as conducting an acoustical analysis with recommended improvements.
This work modernizes the chamber to accommodate councillors, staff, and the public who have mobility, sight, and hearing limitations within all aspects of the room. The project presented a challenging accelerated eight week construction schedule that aligned with the recess of Council during the summer months.
As the symbolic heart of the North Vancouver community, there was large stakeholder interest in this project. Our team developed an interior palette that maintained the existing oak wood features, while brightening the mood of the space with a red fabric colour complimented by warm LED lighting. Tracey and Asher continue their decades-long involvement with the continued refresh of this building, with the original renovation being completed in 2012.
