Microfibres, the Ocean and Your Washing Machine

Back in June we attended Sam Sullivan’s Salon and heard Dr Peter Ross talk about microplastics and microfibres in our oceans and how they are impacting habitat. This is largely coming from our clothing as we launder it and send it into the waste water stream without filtration. He made the point that our dryers have filters, why don’t our washing machines?

Tracey found this domestic microfibre filter https://filtrol.net/ and is giving it a try at home to see how much microfibre it actually intercepts.

Time to give up our beloved fleece and synthetic material and be more aware of what we send down the drain!
