Farm Masterplan completed 2024
Schematic Design ongoing
Tsawwassen First Nation has established a set of agricultural aspirations over the past decade in order to re-establish farming and a strong connection of their people to food and the land. The Nation developed an agricultural plan that outlines high level goals, which resulted in the startup of a market garden on a 1.5-acre site within the Agricultural Land Reserve in 2021. As this initiative began gaining traction, the Nation decided to take a step back and look at how the site could function as a central location and strengthen the longevity of Tsawwassen’s cultural knowledge.
In 2024, MOTIV completed a masterplan for the long term vision of the community farm. With the masterplan now complete, MOTIV has been reengaged to design the barn building, which will house community gathering space, a commercial kitchen, workshop space, offices, and storage for events and farm activities. The vision for the project is to create a central space accessible to all TFN members focused around food access and sovereignty, creating a more resilient food system for the TFN community and strengthening connection to the land.
