Youth Fighting for the Planet

We have been following the trajectory of Greta Thunberg from Sweden and the movement across the globe of youth striking for climate. Pictured here, Alexandria Villasenor, 13, sits on a bench every Friday in front of the United Nations, in New York City with her signs, bringing attention to the issue of climate change .

In a world instantly connected through social media, the momentum is growing.

On January 16th, the Vancouver City Council passed a motion declaring a climate emergency. A rally of high school students demanding for climate change solutions gathered outside.

Councilor Boyle noted “I was really inspired to see the students there, and to know that they are acting similarly to students around the globe to get older elected leaders in office to listen to them.”

The follow up report from City Staff was issued April 16 and will continue to be debated by Council on Monday April 29. Such a critical point in history. We are on the edge of our seats.
